This week has seemed to be a rather organized mess! I’ve learned no matter how much extra time you allow yourself to get things ready for the first day you always underestimate…a lot. I’ve watched teachers and faculty members’ work tirelessly to make sure things are just right before the time runs out. The determination, passion, and kindheartedness among the wonderful people I work with are very powerful, inspiring things. I have admired the adults I work with from day one for their strong relationships they have with one another; friends first, colleagues second. I instantly wanted to be a part of this family but at that time making the cut seemed like and impossible dream.
. I have worked at this school for a year and a half now. Today I was at work using my laminating privileges (privileges that are few and far between I must add) and a teacher who I didn’t think even knew I existed, stopped me just to tell me how good it is to see my smiling face back for another year. Beaming with an ear to ear smile due to the sincerity of her kind words, I started to think about how truly blessed I am to have these people in my life. They are my role models, my teachers, my inspiration, my idols, my family.
I’m always excited to go to work but the excitement I have for tomorrow, the start of the school year is indescribable! People laugh when I say this but I honestly think I’m at least just as, if not more excited than the students for tomorrow. When I was in grade school I often had a severe case of the butterflies on the first day. I would never admit how excited, anxious, and nervous I was, once you got to a certain age, getting excited for school was no longer cool. I am 21 years old and I have known for a good seven or eight days now what I will be wearing on the first day. I am a junior in college and when I think about 7:30am being a only a mere seven hours away, the butterflies in my stomach go crazy. Obviously I got over wanting to be cool and tomorrow I am going to make up for all those years I hid my excitement. Welcome back butterflies! :)
